Roll on to this year, and I’m gearing up again to cover the Fashion Week which kicks off at the end of February. In the meantime there is a photography exhibition being held at the 03 Gallery in Oxford Castle complex and three of my images from last year are in it. The exhibition runs from the 19th February to the 20th March, and the official press launch for the week will be held there on the 28th February, then various shows throughout the following week at locations like Malmaison, Oxford Town Hall, the 03 Gallery itself and a few yet to be disclosed locations.

If you’re interested in fashion and can get to one of the shows or the exhibition, then it’s well worth it.

wedding essentials

Hester and Andy got married at the lovely St. Peter and St. Paul church in Steeple Aston with a reception at the Tythe Barn in Launton, Bicester. Andy arrived at the church in style with his Aston Martin DB6, and also used it to transport himself and Hester to their reception. Despite some showers, the atmosphere of the day couldn’t be dampened and everyone had a really great time!

Anyway, here’s the video and you can sing along to Dean Martin and Winter Wonderland at the same time.

The event was pretty much full on for us with a solid line of people from around 7.30pm till 3am Sunday morning and there were still a few stragglers heading in to the photography room after we had packed up the studio – sorry about that guys!

The guys were all looking very smart indeed, lots of top hats on show and some of the ball gowns that the ladies were wearing were absolutely beautiful.

The most surreal part of the evening was heading into the marquee to set up for the survivors photo, with hundreds of people dancing and singing to what was – to us anyway – complete silence.

Absolutely hilarious to watch, and the crowd were really loving it – so much so that the chanting for one more song carried on for a while after the decks were unplugged and packed away in the box.

After a few shy moments, the fun started and the kids relaxed which let us get some great pictures as they danced, sang and generally made a lot of noise. When you are taking photos of young children, the most important thing that you can do is make them laugh, smile and relax – of course you do get the serious ones who tend to just watch you, but they make interesting portraits as well in their own right, it just takes a little more encouragement.

After a while the white background was put to one side and we brought out the black background. This changes the mood of the photographs completely, the lighting is different, it’s more dramatic, and as people have already relaxed for the camera you get to see them for real.

A couple of photos for you…

Jenny and Stu were married in August at Theale church followed by a fantastic reception at the lovely Bradfield College, it was a glorious day for their wedding and the couple looked fantastic as they drove along in their horse drawn carriage.

The horses did a great job getting to Bradfield as it is quite hilly, however for the bride and groom the journey involved a relaxing ride with a chilled bottle of Champagne – which is just how it should be on your wedding day!

Holly

In August we covered the wedding of Holly and Mark, the venue was the beautiful and historic Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford. The theme for the wedding was black and white, and the wedding car was a fantastic 1952 Pontiac Chieftan. We had a great time photographing their wedding and the weather fairies played nice as well. 

The reception was held at the Holiday Inn, Oxford with the centrepiece being the hand made cake with some absolutely stunning decoration that begged to be photographed.
